| OCA Unit 6A People in action | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The computer 'toolbox' can give considerable support to children in this unit.The digital camera can be used to take photographs of their classmates whilst they are doing games or dance and even whilst they are playing in and around school. Black and white printouts can be enlarged using the photocopier and also provide a method of tracing outlines of figures for those children who find difficulty with drawing from observation |

1.The children's printouts can make a good starting point to analyse how 'movement' appears in photographs. They could develop this further by making a collection of 'action pictures' from magazines as well as the artists work suggested for the unit. |

2. Their observations can then lead to experiments in creating 'movement' effects using the computer alongside traditional printing, rubbing and stenciling techniques.( See image above right) They could experiment with different types of line to create the effect of moving. If the school has Paint Shop Pro/Photoshop or any other image manipulation program the children can experiment with different types of 'effects'. All the images of the dancer (Right and below are all experiements with different Geometric effects in Paint Shop Pro. |

3. Outlines of figures can be cut out in card and the children can either print or turn it into a stencil. They can add directional lines either by rubbing on corrugated paper as in (far right) or add long stitches in matching wools as in (middle right image). |
